A new Delicate Explosion

I have been working on this piece for a long time and finally got it to a place I am happy with. It tool so long because I have been working with some new techniques and materials, so there has been a lot of testing to get the effects I want. I have been working with mark-making lately, and using powdered graphite and acrylic paint marker, among other things, integrated with the paint. It brings in a drawing element I have always loved and missed.

This one is a new one I am adding to my Delicate Explosion series. It is all about nature exploding, in both good and bad ways. Sad and joyful, simultaneously. Pretty and gritty, both at once. Like nature. Delicate Explosion 009...

I was asked to do a demo at Opus, a local art store I use a lot, and wondered what I could possibly do? My work is so process driven that I don't feel I can demonstrate much of anything. But I thought I might be able to demo some of my mark-making strategies. So I will be doing a demo in July at Opus North Van. Should be interesting! At least for me, as I am sure I will be a little nervous.
